One of the things that took me a lot of time was designing my book’s cover. And what every cover has is a font. Your title and subtitle (along with your name) will use one or two fonts at most, and if you truly want it to stand out, choosing the right one can make you waste from hours to days to even weeks or months.
A big problem when looking for fonts is which ones you can actually use for your book. Typically, most free fonts are only available for personal use, and to use them for commercial purposes, you’d have to get a license first, which can add up a lot to your budget (considering how many other things you need to take care of as a self-published author).
The following websites offer a huge collection of free fonts that you can use for commercial purposes, but on some sites, you’ll have to make sure you’ve selected the “free for commercial use” filter. I did my best to specify which are 100% safe to use and which ones you need to double-check. In any case, double-check all of them – you know, just to be sure.

Whatever font you’ll essentially choose for your book’s cover, make sure to download its license file and always keep it somewhere stored and safe in case anybody ever asks you for it.
The safest options include Google Fonts, FontShare, Open Foundry, The League of Moveable Type, Velvetyne Foundry, and Font Squirrel. These are widely recommended specifically because they focus on verified commercial/open licenses. Anywhere else, take a second look to make sure the font includes a commercial license.
