How to update safely

First create a backup in Settings → Backup & Restore and export a copy to another safe location. Check your installed version in About or the update area in Settings. Save your work before installing an update. You normally keep the same compatible license; do not buy or reissue a key just to update.

Windows supports update checking/downloading and the existing automatic installation flow; follow the app’s update controls and restart prompt. macOS uses manual DMG installation: quit the app and replace the application in Applications with the correct arm64 or Intel Beta download. Linux AppImage uses manual replacement of the executable file after quitting. Preserve the old app until the new one opens your library.

Your workspace is separate from the application. Do not delete Documents, Application Support or a workspace folder as an update step. If the library appears missing, stop writing into a new empty library, use Settings to locate the existing workspace and keep all candidate folders/backups. Ask support before destructive recovery.
